Synopsis Jewel in the Palace

Dans la dynastie Joseon d’il y a plus de 500 ans, la société est extrêmement hiérarchisée et patriarcale. D’après une histoire vraie, Jewel in the Palace raconte l’histoire de Jang Geum, la première femme à avoir été nommée médecin attitré du roi. Malgré son statut social modeste, Jang Geum fait fi de la discrimination sociale dont elle est victime et finit par être engagée comme cuisinière royale. Elle deviendra plus tard médecin royal puis médecin attitré du roi. Elle sera d’ailleurs nommée par le roi lui-même “Jang Geum la Grande”. Suivez la vie mouvementé de Jang Geum, ses chutes et ses succès ainsi que son histoire d’amour avec le noble Min Jeong Ho.
